Partnerships

In 1998, Mt. Hope residents teamed up with Community Police Officers George Pereira and Jeff Ferreira to open the Mt. Hope Learning Center in a small storefront Community Police facility on Camp Street. Their goal was to create an accessible, safe and nurturing place for residents of Mt. Hope to learn valuable skills and enrich their lives.

The Mt. Hope Learning Center, having received its 501 (c)(3) non-profit incorporation, applied for and received Community Development Block Grant funds and purchased the site at 140 Cypress Street. The Learning Center quickly outgrew its limited space and in 2003 took over the full use of the building.
